Why it's in the bag
Your wallet just became a full tool kit. When you're evacuating with nothing else.
When it matters
- Grid down, no hardware stores: stripped fasteners on shelter materials need reworking—open, cut, scrape.
- Evacuation with one bag: cordage repair, boot sole separation, pack strap fraying. The card fits where pliers don't.
- Bug-out in urban rubble: sharp edge to scrape hazards from your path, open food containers.
What it does
- Opening, cutting, scraping, measuring in field repair
- Cutting paracord and synthetic fabric without a blade (bottle opener edge)
- Scraping and deburring sharp metal edges from salvage
- Measuring or marking cuts on salvage materials
- Non-obvious: using the ruler edge to assess spacing for lashing or rigging
Built to last
Backup to full tools, not a replacement. Card tools are thin and flex under heavy load. Won't fell wood or precision-cut.
Where it fits your kit
EDC layer. Paracord Survival Bracelet: Cordage deployment when repairs are found; paracord weaving needs small cuts. Tactical Pen + Glass Breaker: Cross-marking before cuts; pen for writing gear repair logs.
Specs
- Materials: Plastic card with embedded steel tools
- Weight: 26g
- Dimensions: Credit-card sized
- In the box: 1x tool card
Field notes
- The card is thin—use steady downward pressure, not leverage. Pinch the edge rather than torque it.
- Keep one in a waterproof pocket or pill bottle to prevent corrosion of the steel edges.
- Practice opening synthetic strap bundles and cutting paracord with it before you need to—the angles are different from a blade.
FAQ
Q: Is this actually sharp or just a gimmick? The edges are hardened steel, sharper than advertised, but still dull against leather or thick cordage. It excels at plastic and soft metals.
Q: Why a card vs. a real multi-tool? Weight and pack space. A card weighs ounces and fits anywhere. A multi-tool is better for sustained work, but you might not have room in evacuation.
Q: Can it open cans? Not safely. The edges aren't designed for cans. Use it for repair, cordage, and field adjustments, not food prep.
Covered by the optional Watchtower Guarantee.
