When it matters

• Evacuation stranded at contaminated surface water: no way to boil, no containers. Draw and drink directly through the straw.
• Bug-out with vehicle stranded in rural area, no fuel to get to supply: 10+ draw capacity covers one person 2–3 days if water found.
• Shelter-in-place with water mains ruptured, local pond is only source: gravity fill bag or cup and drink through straw repeatedly.

What it does

• Direct-draw from streams, ponds, questionable taps (chlorine-resistant)
• Backup to boiling or tablets when those sources fail
• Emergency straw for family if pack space is zero
• Non-obvious: fill a cup at public water fountains in evacuation zones (some municipal systems have turned nasty)

Built to last

Single-use straw—capacity is 10+ draws before clogging, not gallons. Doesn't remove heavy metals or certain chemicals. Not suitable for saltwater.

Field notes

• Don't let it freeze—ice will crack the filter element. Wrap in cloth if temps are near 0°C.
• If draw becomes hard (filter clogging), backflush gently with clean water to extend life.
• Chlorine will pass through—if source was chemically treated, straw removes particles but not disinfectant.

FAQ

Q: How many days will one straw last? Roughly 10+ good draws before noticeable resistance. One person drawing once per day from clean source: 1–2 weeks. From silty water: 2–3 days.

Q: Does this protect against salt water or urine? No. Saltwater will clog it immediately. Chemical contaminants pass through.

Q: Can I share the straw with someone else? Not recommended—it's single-use and design doesn't support backwashing fully. One straw per person in an emergency.
